Peninsula Grammar is proud to be a Commendee in the prestigious Governor of Victoria Export Awards 2010.
The School’s unique mix of local and international education secured the award in the Education and Training category, which recognises outstanding innovation and export achievement in the field of education and training services, expertise and curriculum.Around 90 students from 15 countries either board at our Mt Eliza campus or homestay with local families. Many of these students attend the English Language Centre for at least one term to assist their language development and give them a greater understanding of life in Australia.
Peninsula Grammar also hosts four or five large study tours of international students each year; delivers the VCE to 500 students in two Chinese cities; and operates The Peninsula School India, which is run as a charity.
The Export Award recognises the 'complete service' that Peninsula offers, from collecting them at the airport on arrival through to their eventual university placement - all of our international students receive and take up tertiary offers.
Our international students perform exceptionally well at VCE, with Lukas Wittern named our Dux in 2008 and among the top five highest performing students in 2009. Xiaoyu (Frank) Feng was Dux of School in 2010.
Our China-based students also produce excellent results at VCE. The Chinese market is very focused on academic outcomes as entry to university in that country is extremely competitive. Good results gives these students the option to undertake tertiary study abroad – many choose Australia – thus broadening their horizons. Generally, the majority of our Nanjing VCE graduates chose to attend either Melbourne or Monash Universities, with the remainder enrolling at tertiary institutions in New South Wales.
