Since 1998 The Peninsula School has been lucky to have a special relationship with Notre-Dame-les-Oiseaux in Paris. The two schools have formed strong and enduring ties.
Every two years, Peninsula students have the opportunity to participate in a tour of France for three weeks. Approximately two weeks of this time is spent with a French host family. In the same year, the students of Notre Dame spend two weeks as part of the Peninsula community.
On the tenth anniversary of the first exchange, the relationship between Notre Dame and The Peninsula School was formalised by the French government, and the two schools are now officially ‘appariées’.
Other opportunities exist for students of both schools to live and travel overseas. Peninsula offers a Scholarship to students of French in Year 11, which includes 6-8 weeks of tuition and accommodation (homestay) in Paris. Students are also able to spend the Christmas holiday period in Paris, attending school at Notre Dame. Our French friends have the opportunity to come to The Peninsula School during their summer holidays in July and August. Other long-term stays are possible, with some students choosing to live and work in a type of GAP year after they have left school.
Our Middle Years French students have the opportunity to further their Language and Cultural knowledge with the 8 Day Tour to New Caledonia which is offered on the alternate year to the French Exchange. This overseas trip is available as an option to students in Years 6, 7 and 8 when they travel to Noumea and have the opportunity to attend Language classes with the Creipac School, visit local markets, restaurants, a village, local islands and have the opportunity to use their French Language throughout the trip !
Parents wishing to view the School are invited to contact our Admissions Office, who welcome enquiries at any time and will be happy to arrange personal tours for families. Telephone (03) 9788 7753 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
