In the English Language Centre students are introduced to a new learning style with a high level of interaction and communication with their fellow students and teachers. Students coming to Australia from education systems where the emphasis is on rote or process learning often lacks the analytical skills which underpin the learning process in the West.

A key part of the teaching programme in the English Language Centre is the focus on the development of cognitive processing skills to assist the students to leave the English Language Centre not only with a greater command of the English language, but also with a sense of confidence in their ability to express, analyse and rationalise their opinions, thoughts and beliefs. As well, students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and the development of learning-how-to-learn skills.
