The Mt Baw Baw project is designed to construct a learning situation for students in Year 8 that is holistic, relevant and fully able to integrate many aspects of their topic. The project allows the students to learn in an independent manner; students have decisions to make along the way and develop a tolerant attitude towards the interests of others.

The major outcomes to be achieved are:
Students will learn to work cohesively in a group situation. Within their groups they will be required to set goals and negotiate with others to produce their presentations.

Students will develop their research and planning skills. With independence comes responsibility. Students will have access to the Internet, Learning Point and the Resource Centre before they go to Mt Baw Baw. They will need to be completely organised before they leave for camp.

The students will be expected to develop an argument or a viewpoint which may not be their own. They will develop their ability to explore an issue form more than one side.

Students will enhance their outdoor skills through the overnight campout. The students will use navigational, planning and camping skills to complete this task.

Students will be prepared for the Bendigo and City projects in Yr 9.
