TheMt
Baw Baw
project
is
designed
to
construct
a
learning
situation
for
students
in Year
8 that
is
holistic,
relevant
and
fully
able to
integrate
many
aspects
of their
topic.
The
project
allows
the
students
to learn
in an
independent
manner;
students
have
decisions
to make
along
the way
and
develop
a
tolerant
attitude
towards
the
interests
of
others.
The
major
outcomes
to be
achieved
are:
Students
will
learn to
work
cohesively
in a
group
situation.
Within
their
groups
they
will be
required
to set
goals
and
negotiate
with
others
to
produce
their
presentations.
Students
will
develop
their
research
and
planning
skills.
With
independence
comes
responsibility.
Students
will
have
access
to the
Internet,
Learning
Point
and the
Resource
Centre
before
they go
to Mt Baw
Baw.
They
will
need to
be
organised
before
they
complete
they
leave
for
camp.
The
students
will be
expected
to
develop
an
argument
or a
viewpoint
which
may not
be their
own.
They
will
develop
their
ability
to
explore
an issue
form
more
than one
side.
Students
will
enhance
their
outdoor
skills
through
the
overnight
campout.
The
students
will use
navigational,
planning
and
camping
skills
to
complete
this
task.
Students
will be
prepared
for the
Bendigo
and City
projects
in Yr 9.
