As students enter Peninsula’s Senior School they begin the last phase of their secondary schooling. It is a time when students need to prepare for life after school, whether that is full time employment, tertiary education or an apprenticeship. The majority of our students undertake tertiary education when they leave Peninsula. Preparing for this pathway, therefore, is a major focus during the final years.

Students in the Senior School are encouraged to make the most of their individual strengths and abilities. Students are presented with an environment where they are able to achieve their highest potential in academic, sporting and artistic endeavours. Within this supportive, structured environment we aim to produce independent learners who are well prepared to cope with future challenges and the world beyond school.

Head of Senior School

There are many leadership opportunities for students in the Senior School. Each year the school selects a number of Year 12 students to act as School Prefects. These students are the designated leaders of the school body and, although they are appointed to specific portfolios, they are expected to exercise leadership in all areas of the school community. In Years 10 and 11 students are elected to formal positions of leadership. They plan activities for their year level, many of which are the students’ own initiatives. Other opportunities for students to display leadership are offered in the School’s extensive co-curricular program in sport, outdoor education, music, drama and debating.

At The Peninsula School, the staff, working in partnership with both parents and students, seek to create an environment where students have confidence to take risks, to feel encouraged and challenged, and to learn to develop the full extent of their potential. The environment and atmosphere promoted in the Senior School encourages adult attitudes that will assist students in their transition to the world outside the school.
