There are specific Careers programs for each level from Year 9 to Year 12.

At year 9, Pathways Week is devoted to careers. All students take a series of simple tests of interest, abilities and work values to assist them to find a possible career path. At the same time, tours of several firms in the local area give students an insight into a few of the careers that may appeal.

Year 10 students use their Year 9 research to choose an occupation for their Work Experience week. They also learn job seeking skills – writing resumes and application letters and participate in a mock interview with the assistance of members of the local Rotary Club, acting as employers. A major part of the Year 10 program is the planning of individual VCE courses for each student.

Much of the Careers Program at Years 11 and 12 is preparing students for the next step – university, TAFE, apprenticeships. Students are individually counseled on subject and tertiary selections. They visit tertiary institutions, course and career expos. Those with a more practical interest may select VET subjects in Years 11 and 12 or choose to enrol in VCAL as an alternative to VCE.

The emphasis on individual careers counselling in Years 10 -12 maximises the prospects of students making a smooth and successful transition from the Peninsula School
