The
Peninsula
School
believes
that
student
programmes
in Year
10
should
be based
on a
strong
core
curriculum
of
sequential
courses
that
ensure a
solid
base for
the
senior
years.
At the
same
time,
the
curriculum
should
be broad
enough
to open
up
secure
and
interesting
pathways
to both
the
training
and
higher
education
sectors.
Physical
and
moral
education
are
important
parts of
the Year
10 Core
programme,
supplemented
by a
pastoral
curriculum
and a
wide
range of
co-curricular
experiences.
I moving
from the
Middle
School
(Years
7-9),
electives
are
studied
for the
whole
year
rather
than
just for
a simple
semester.
The
number
of
students
attempting
VCE
subjects
are part
of the
Year 10
programme
has
grown
over the
past few
years.
In
general,
this is
useful
strategy
for
students
who are
looking
to be
extended
in their
studies.
Access
to Unit
1&2
subjects
is
negotiated
on an
individual
basis
with
students
on the
basis if
their
performance
in their
Year 9
studies.
Other
features
of the
Year 10
programme
include
our Work
Experience
week and
our
Outdoor
Education
camps.
