The class representatives have been very busy again this
term with all the hard work from the group culminating in the success of
the Mothers' Day stall on Friday 9 May and Australia’s Biggest Morning
Tea which was held in the Peninsula School Pavilion on Wednesday 21 May.
As per previous years, the Class representatives on behalf of The
Peninsula School hosted the Biggest Morning Tea for Cancer Research.
This event held right around Australia, annually raises funds for the
Cancer Council. I am pleased to advise that this years event was a
resounding success with a large number of parents along with their
families and friends in attendance. It thrills us to be able to say
that we raised in excess of $4000, a significant increase from last
year.
A huge thank you must go to our 2008 co-orindators - Pauline Achermann,
Lina Davies and Mariana Reaper for all their hard work. Without your
efforts, this event certainly would not have been the success that it
was. Thank you also to the many other helpers on the day and also to
those who donated goods and of course the delicious food which was
thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance.
The introduction of a silent auction and the numerous wonderful raffle
prizes certainly increased interest in the event, and we were also very
pleased to be able to welcome and be entertained by two musical
ensembles.
A vocal quartet - Nicole Bruerton, Kim Poon, Teegan Dowdell and Phillipa
Rust, performed "Walk with Me" by Melanie Shanahan.
A clarinet septet performed “Greensleeves” and “Clarinetwise” and
consisted of Shuo Wang, Matthew Witney, Elizabeth Boag, Tim Tyers,
directed by Mr Adam Wesley.
The performances certainly created a lovely atmosphere for the morning,
and we really appreciated the students taking the time to perform for
us. Our sincere thanks to our Music staff Lidia Mancini and Adam Wesley
for taking time out of their busy schedules to be involved with their
respective groups, and also to Craig Fullerton for facilitating.
Our next Class Representatives meeting will be held on Wednesday 18 June
at 9am in the Pavilion to discuss among other items, the Fathers’ Day
Stall in September. Class Representatives, helpers and anybody who is
interested in coming along, is most welcome.
