Major Changes to Traffic Conditions
during Construction of Performing Arts Complex
The construction of the new Performing Arts Complex
will commence in the very near future. The builder is SJ
Higgins who recently completed similar music and drama
facilities at both Caulfield and Trinity Grammars and
they also have had a long association with the School.
The new building is the first part of a larger complex
that will include an auditorium in the future. Work will
start with the demolition of the foyer of the Ansett
Hall and the tin sheds at the rear. Swimmers
breakfasts will be moved to the Year 12 Common Room.
There will also be changes to traffic flow during
construction with the closure of the road at the rear
of Ansett Hall. Between 8:00 – 9:00 and 3:15 –
4:00 all traffic will continue to enter via Gate 2. The
cars will travel through the school and exit via Gate 7
(as they do now) or Gate 1.
The Gate 1 exit is a change and the barriers at the
Chapel will not be used either in the morning or in the
afternoon. This will mean that traffic will flow
through the main bus area and you are asked to be very
mindful of pedestrians in this area. A reminder that the
speed limit in the school is 10kph (almost walking
speed). All buses will continue move as they do now.
The road past the Perry Building will remain one-way
except in an emergency and for school maintenance
vehicles. This may require using the roads outside
the School to move to other locations in the School once
you have passed this point.
Clearly, there will be disruption during the
construction period and we will do our best to minimise
the impact. The new facility will be a tremendous
addition to the school and your co-operation and
patience to help bring it on line would be greatly
appreciated.
