The Art, Design and Technology Department aims to provide a unique, vibrant and imaginative set of learning experiences that cater for the individual differences of students. Students from Kindergarten to Year 12 are encouraged to ‘think, imagine, create and appreciate’.
At Year 7, students complete one semester of Introduction to Art and one of Introduction to Design. These units give students a general experience of the four major Art, Design and Technology disciplines: Art, Ceramics, Design Technology and Visual Communication & Design.
During Years 8 and 9 students complete four semester units of Arts studies. A student should complete at least one unit of Performing Arts and at least one of Art, Design and Technology. Year 10 students are able to elect from a range of Art, Design and Technology studies, all of which run for a full year. Subjects offered include Studio Arts Units 1 and 2, Photography, Ceramics, Design Technology and Visual Communication & Design.
At VCE level students may choose from Studio Arts, Visual Communication & Design, and Design & Technology. The work of our talented VCE students is often chosen to feature in the prestigious Top Arts and Top Designs exhibitions, which form part of the VCE Season of Excellence.
Our annual Arts Week gives students from all areas of the School the opportunity to engage in a week of activities from the Art, Design and Technology, Music, Dance and Drama departments. We also host a range of exhibitions of student work from all levels of the School.
Parents wishing to view the School are invited to contact our Admissions Office, who welcome enquiries at any time and will be happy to arrange personal tours for families. Telephone (03) 9788 7753 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
