Term 2 Social Service
The Social service project for this Term 2 is raising money for the Bacau Teachers College in Timor. As illiteracy runs at approximately 60% of the population, increasing the number of schools and teachers is vital to the future of this new country. This tertiary degree course is run by the Australian university, ACU.
Since 2005, 253 teachers have graduated with a Bachelor of Teaching. A total of 50 students are selected every year from any of the 13 districts in Timor. It is a great cause supporting those studying to become teachers in their own country.
$1,200 can give a student at the college enough money to undertake a year’s training, so please support this great cause. As always there will be a free dress day for Middle and Senior Schools' on May 17 with a BBQ and lolly stall, but any donations would be greatly appreciated!
